News
April 2017: The list of organisms I've studied now officially includes the Gila monster! The study, lead by Dr. Karla Moeller, investigated how Gila monsters physiologically cope with dehydration. An early view of the paper can be found here.
September 2016: I am now a postdoctoral scholar working with Dr. Jenny Ouyang at the University of Nevada, Reno. My research will be investigating how physiological traits of birds are adapted to urban life.
June 2016: Can free-ranging birds physiologically recover from an acute stressor by the next day? The Deviche lab studied this question in the Rufous-wing Sparrow, and our paper has just been accepted for publication in General and Comparative Endocrinology. Here's a link to the article.
June 2016: The combined efforts of the Deviche lab in studying the Rufous-wing Sparrow has produced another paper. Our study of whether the responses of energy metabolites and testosterone to acute stress are related to the stress hormone response has been accepted for publication in General and Comparative Endocrinology. Here's a link to the paper.
May 2016: A paper by Dr. Michelle Beck and me, in which we test the ability of beeswax implants to elevated plasma corticosterone in Zebra Finches, has been accepted for publication in General and Comparative Endocrinology. You can read the paper here.
May 2016: The first paper from my post-doctoral work on the territorial aggression of urban and rural Song Sparrows has just been accepted for publication in Biology Letters. Here's a link to the paper.
May 2016: My paper on the endocrine and immune responses to acute stress in the Abert's Towhee (the last of my work on this species) has just been accepted for publication in Journal of Comparative Physiology - B. Take a look at the paper here.
May 2016: My paper on the ecological and physiological control of gonad growth in the Abert's Towhee has just been published in General and Comparative Endocrinology. Check out the paper here.
